Day 1

Bayan Ulgii Province, Western Mongolia.

Flight to Ulgii, the capital of the Bayan-Ulgii province, which is the most remote town of western Mongolia. Visit the most interesting a handicraft shop, local black market and museum. It is well stocked and with comprehensive information of flora and fauna of Bayan-Ulgii as well as it colorful traditional costumes. Stay in hotel

Day 2

Drive to Altantsugts sum.

Drive to about 45km from Ulgii to Altantsugts sum to visit  where Nurgaip’s family live, he is father of Aisholpan. She is only  14 years old female eagle hunter in the region. Stay nearby the family.

Day 3

Drive to Tsambagarav Nat.Park

Tavan-Belchir, is part of the Tsambagarav Uul. The mountain is(4202m)one of the most beautiful snowcapped mountains in Mongolia.  It is just on the border of three western provinces Bayan-Ulgii,Uvs and Hovd, from Ulgii 100km. We will see the beautiful snowcapped peak, rokcy valleys and crystal clear spring and many nomadic famielies and gers as it look like pearl in this valley. Stay in  tents.

Day 4

Drive back to Ulgii

Drive back to Ulgii on the way we will meet one of the experienced and famous eaglehunter. Sailau has been hunting for more than 25 years and he focuses on passing the craft onto the next generation of hunters. His son were recently featured in the BBC television series” Human Planet” . Stay in Hotel in Ulgii.

Day 5-6

Altay Golden Eagle Festival.

There are approx. 400 eaglehunters in Bayan Ulgii aimag. Eagle hunters from around regions gather to test their finely trained birds in singular contests of speed and agility in these few days. But there will be about 60-70 eagle hunters participating. During the festival we also see some Kazakh Traditional games like “BusgKushi”(try to take out from each other the goat skin on horseback),”kiss woman on horsebakc”, “pick up coins from the land on horseback” and others. Stay in hotel in Ulgii.

Day 7

Drive to Altai Tavan Bogd National Park.

Drive by minivans(furgon)180kmvia Ulaan-Hus along the northwestern roude. Explore numerous petroglyphs and Turkic stones. Area of Bayan Ulgii is rich in archeological remains of the Bronze Ages. At Shiveet Hairhan Mountain, where Tuvan nomads live, in Altai Tavan Bogd National Park.  The Mountain is sacred for the residents and they protect numerous of ibex in there.  Meet local horseman who prepare horses . Overnight in tents in Tsagaan gol valley.

Day 8

Tavan Bogd Massif

With the support of horses we will trek for 16 km towards to the base camp next to the 20 km long Potanina glacier, which runs down from the highest mountain in Mongol Tavan Bogd means “ The Holy Five” referring to the five highest peaks, of which Huiten Uul is the highest in Mongolia, 4374 meters above sea level.. The other peaks are named Nairamdal, Ulgii, Burged and Malchin. It is a stanning setting with the awe-inspiring massif of high snow capped peaks and gorgeous views. Comeback to the Tsagaan gol valley.

Day 9-10

Syrgali area via Snake valley and Baga Turgen waterfall.

  • Drive via snake Valley across beautiful mountain passes and trough the biggest ancient burial sights.
  • Syrgalui is a beautiful spot where two pristine twin lakes Hoton and Hurgan meet. Eternal snow caps with larch forests below and crystal clean mountain lakes make this area one of the most beautiful parts of trip. It is also good place for fly fishing and good for bird watching. Stay for two nights there.
  • Hike to a beautiful Baga Turgen Valley there are three waterfalls and go bakc just a few steps from Chinese border.
Day 11

Back to Ulgii

Drive to Ulgii through Tsagaan Gol river valley and Tsengel soum.,Stay in a hotel in Ulgii.

Day 12

Departure for Ulaan-Baatar in the morning.
